We were walking down the street to get the mail, and on the way we spotted birds. Three of them. On the ground. Chirping to each other. I though Little Bug was going to explode with excitement. I was really surprised that she stayed quiet as a mouse and starting creeping up on them. She'd turn around and give me big eyes as if to say "keep up mommy" and then would continue her stalking.
Finally when we had tracked them all the way into the woods which was probably a good 15 minutes after we started she yelled, "BIRD" which kind of sounds like "butt" when she says it. So there we are yelling "butt" at the woods, as our neighbors are starting to come out of their houses to walk their dogs.
When we got back to the house, she wanted to run around on the porch. I realized that she doesn't have a concept of being afraid of bugs yet. She was staring at a spider web and touching it. I told her what it was and her eyes got big as she said, "pie-der". I realized that she is probably thinking this was from Miss Spider like in her books.
I let her continue to stare at the Web while I found the real spider. And killed it. No need to introduce her to reality just yet.
