Tall Tales

We were talking last night when Little Bug walked up to us and said, "ear hurt, popcorn." She had been eating popcorn and realized that she might have stuck a kernel in her ear.

I asked her, "did you put popcorn in your ear?"
Little Bug: yes
me (holding up a USB stick): did you put this in your ear?
Little Bug: yes
Me: What else did you put in your ear?
Little Bug: a puppy

At this point, we figured there was a chance that she may have put a popcorn kernel in her ear - but it was going to be impossible to get the straight story from her. I tried to scare her into telling the truth so I told her we were going to the doctor's office. She got excited and started singing, "doctor, doctor, doctor." I realized that trying to make her not afraid of the doctor's office by telling her the doctor's office was fun totally backfired on me.

We called some friends and they advised us to pick up one of those scopes to look in her ear and hopefully save us a trip to the emergency room. We headed to Walgreens and sat her down while we used the scope to look in her ear. She kept saying, "I can do it."

Her ears wound up fine, and she was thoroughly entertained by the whole ordeal.
