Pumpin Up the Jams
Today we grabbed lunch out and I took Little Bug to the restroom, the song "Pump Up the Jams" was playing over the speakers. She scrunched up her face and asked, "are they singing about my birthday party?" since we had her party at 'Pump It Up'. I told her that it was just a song, but she wasn't convinced. She told me it was about her party. She also kept dancing even when she was on the potty. It's a little dance she does where she shakes her shoulders and wiggles her bottom. She pointed to the changing table and told me, "When I was a little baby, that's where I used to go. But now Mei-Mei will go there because she's going to be a tiny baby." It's crazy what goes on in that head of hers.

She's Mine After All
This weekend Little Bug has caught a little bug, so we are relaxing and resting to help her kick her cold over the weekend. The Sound of Music was on, so we started letting her watch it and she is a sucker for musicals. She kept asking me to rewind all of the musical numbers so she could watch them. Although it was funny, she wrinkled up her nose and asked me, "Are they wearing curtains?" with a little face like she wouldn't be caught dead in curtains.
I put on Little Women a few weeks ago and she didn't want to leave the TV to eat dinner, I had to pause it so she could watch the "princess women" after dinner.
So not only is the house turning more and more pink, but the musicals and romantic movies are starting to come on in full effect. Turns out that she's my little girl after all! Poor daddy...

On Growing Up...
Little bug was going through my purse and found some gum. I told her that she couldn't have any because she's not big enough yet. She looked at me and asked, "When I grow so big I can try them?" I told her yes, when she hits 42 inches she can chew gum. I asked her how tall she thinks she is now. She thought for a minute, looked at me and said, "I'm perfect." No self esteem issues with this one!

Little Sneak
On Monday night, we had put little bug to bed and I was downstairs watching the Bachelorette. Keep in mind that during the day, when little bug wakes up from her nap she'll sneak down the stairs and hide behind the wall that separates the kitchen from the living room and will watch TV if it is on and then she'll sneak around the corner to jump out at us. So on Monday night, I see a shadow for a second. I thought it was daddy because little bug has never come downstairs on her own at night.
When I didn't see daddy, I crept around the corner and there was little bug standing in her hiding spot with eyes as big as saucers since she didn't know if she was in trouble or not. I couldn't help but laugh and she jumped into my arms and said "I made you laugh mommy." Then she looked at the TV and said, "look mommy it is princess Ali and her other Prince Charming."
It was so funny. I had told her weeks ago that the Bachelorette was actually called Princess Ali as she tried to find her Prince Charming after she had gone to college and had a career. She clearly remembered. I took her upstairs and figured that since daddy hadn't heard her that he might be in the shower, so I told her she could sleep with me until she feel asleep and then she had to go to her room.
Of course, daddy was VERY surprised to find out that Little Bug had sneaked past him, and was even more surprised that she was going to sleep with us since I already promised her. Luckily it was a one night only deal - on Tuesday night when we put her to bed, we quizzed her. We asked her if she wakes up, what will she do? And she smiled and said, "stay in my bed and close my eyes and go back to sleep. I can't watch Princess Ali."

Maybe Not Today
Daddy has set up the slushie routine, whenever he picks up little bug from school they go to the QT and she gets to pick out a color slushie to drink on the drive home. He asked her if she was going to share her slushie and she thought for a while and said, "No, maybe not today, to-later".
To-later is her favorite word, she combined tomorrow with later and always asks us, "can we do that to-later?"

Animals are Stinky
I picked up little bug from pre-school and found out that they had a visit from some animals. On the drive home, I asked her what she thought of the animals....
me: Did you pet some animals today?
bug: (holding up two fingers as high as she could) Yes, and I could pet them with these two fingers. There was a rabbit, a chinchilla -
me: What did the chinchilla say?
bug: It was very soft and it said, Diego help me help me
me: Did you help it?
bug: no, I just petted it. The rabbit didn't have a tail, but it had a head, body, legs, ears, nose, mouth, paws....but no tail. I didn't feed it, my friends did, but it was stinky.
me: What other animals were there?
bug: a turtle, and something in the bucket but it was too stinky
I asked her if she'd like the animals better if they weren't stinky and she got a big smile and said, yes!

The Scientist
Little bug put on her two piece bikini looking gymnastics outfit that she got from her godparents. She ran into the room where daddy and I were and she yelled, "look at me, I'm a scientist!"
We asked her if that is how scientists dress, and she looked at us with her very serious 'of course' face and said "yes. I run, do experiments and then I'm a scientist!"
I think we are going to stop saving for college, since 'bikini scientist' could probably pull in some good ratings as a reality show.

No Popsicles at Brunch
While we were getting ready to head for brunch for mother's day, little bug was eerily quiet in her room. I walked in and she was laying on the floor quietly coloring. I sat down with her and she said she needed to paint my toenails. So I got pampered for about a 1/2 hour while she pretend painted my fingernails, toenails, put pretend lotion on my legs and gave me a little massage. I had no idea little bug knew how to run a spa.
We then went to a nice brunch place just around the corner from our house. They have an amazing spread, including an entire dessert bar. We thought little bug would be just beside herself with the dessert bar - but surprisingly she wasn't really into it. She ate her fair share of fruit and steak, and a little bit of dessert. Then when we got into the car she asked, "Now can I have my blue Popsicle?"
I had forgotten that she wanted a Popsicle before we left the house and we told her that she could have one after brunch. Maybe some day they'll create a brunch just for little bug with marshmallows, cheese, fruit, steak AND Popsicles.

The Ultra Ultrasound
We went on Saturday morning to do a 4D ultrasound to see if we were having a boy or girl. We didn't want to wait another month for my doctor's office to do it and thought it would be a better idea to go to the high resolution place rather than the "it's a boy" proclamation the doctor's office made of little bug, to only find out six weeks later that "it's a girl".
We didn't know how buggy would react to seeing the ultrasound, to be honest they still freak me out. But we went to a place where they project the ultrasound on a big screen so there was going to be no way to hide it from her. She got really concerned for me at first when I laid down, so she stood next to me and held my hand. Then the actual ultrasound started and we told her that it was the baby. Little bug said, "Oh yeah, that's my brothersister movie."
She was hooked, she ran onto the floor to get a better look at the 'movie' and kept yelling, there's her nose, there are her arms, etc. Surprisingly she got most of them right. When the technician zoomed in to get a shot of our new little bundle's private area at first the baby would only put her back to the camera, so you could just see her little bum, then she actually covered up her private area with her hands. Finally they got a clear shot and proclaimed that they were 95% sure that it is a girl.
Little bug yelled, that's my sister. She waved at the screen and just then the baby waved her little arm too. Little bug turned to us and said, "my sister waved at me." It was a pretty special moment.

My Friends!
Buggy calls her stuffed animals and toys her "friends". I'll hear her playing in her room and yell, "oh no, my friends are stuck. We have to save them". When I walk into her room, I'll find that her animals have either been shoved into her kitchen oven, or she's jammed them into her closet. Then we have to rescue all of her friends and ask them if they are okay. If they are hurt, we have to pull out her doctor's kit and she inspects them with all of her doctor tools and then proclaims, "there, you are all better."
She also likes to play the piggy game. This consists of her pulling coins out of daddy's wallet and running upstairs to feed her piggy bank. Once she drops the coins in, she grabs the pig's face and asks, "you feel better now, piggy?".
When I was picking her up out of her bathtub she had to say goodnight to all of her friends. Goodnight Ariel, goodnight boat, goodnight dora, goodnight Flounder...after a few minutes of her saying goodnight to everything she could find - including her soap, she finally said - okay, we can go to my room now.
At night when I carry her from her changing table to the bed, she decides that she's either a fairy, a dragon or a quiet dragon. The "quiet dragon" means I swing her around to fly around the room while she whispers, "roar".
Before we leave the room, daddy and I have to obey her instructions..."kiss sleep sack, kiss other sleep sack, kiss Diego, kiss mommy, kiss Evie. Buenos noches."

Snow Day
We had around five inches of snow at our house. When Little Bug got home from the nanny, she immediately ran to put on a princess nightgown. I told her she could either put on her princess nightgown and stay inside or we could bundle up and go play in the snow. Her jaw hit the floor and she looked at me and yelled "Playinthesnow!".
So I bundled her up with tons of layers and put her rain boots on. She kept grabbing toys that she "needed" to take in the snow. I got her to put most of them away, except for her bag of Easter eggs. She looked at me with her serious face and said, "I have to play with eggs in the snow".
We let her out on our deck first to clomp around and she got a kick out of scooping up snow with her Easter eggs. Then we took her out front and to the side of our house where a ton of snow was piled up. I scooped up a snow ball and said, "I'm going to peg you buggy" and I nailed her with a snow ball. She looked at me with a mixture of shock and got a sly little smile since she realized that she could now hit me too with snow balls. She kept yelling, "I'm going to peg you mommy!" and scooped up snow with her little mittens and alternatively smashed snow into my jeans.
Little bug also kept scooping up snow and eating it. She said to me, "oh wow mommy, this snow is good" like she was a little snow consosiour.
She and daddy made a snowman, and when we walked around the neighborhood to slide down the hill (she wasn't too sure of sledding) she kept saying, "snow man...where are you..." and then she told daddy and I that the snowman left.
Once we were back at our house, I made her hot chocolate and she grabbed it in her little hands and said, "this is my favorite!".

Grammar Lesson
I was getting Little Bug ready for bed tonight and I asked her what she did during the day. She said, I feed my friends (stuffed bear, Lady, Winnie the Pooh). So I corrected her and said "you fed your friends", it's in the past tense. She looked at me with all seriousness and said, "okay I fed my friends past tense."
